I donated my hair!

Hi All,

I just completed my Landmark Education Forum in San Francisco.

I made a commitment to donate my hair to someone who has lost their hair to cancer.

On graduation night of the Landmark Education Forum, I faced my worst fear of public speaking and singing in front of other people. The experience was exhiliarating!!!

Catching UP!

WOW! It's been a whirlwind of activity since I became Board Member for NCWCA! Shortly after being elected on July 14, I was preparing for my trip to St. Louis for the Summer National Art and Social Justice Confence and Board Member Meeting. I could write a book about all the people I met, the things I learned and the FUN that I had, but then you would be bored to tears, so I'll control myself. At any rate, I played journalist and collected some great stories for my upcoming book, "Blind Faith". Plus, I made a lot of new aquaintenances, dare I say "friends" in this day and age, that I am looking forward to seeing again at the 40th Anniversary Gala Conference in LA in February, 22-27, just after my second SOLO Show on February 7, 2012. Whoo, hoo!!! My DREAMS are coming true.

Speaking of SHOWS, I just got news that Donna Seagar, juror for the Bay Area Women's Art Show, selected my plastic Hefty trash bag dress, "SLICK", (look in the upper right corner of this blog and you'll see me wearing it!) for the show at O'Hanlon Center For the Arts, up through August 27. In addition, yesterday, I got a phone call from Idell at Blackview Media, who saw me wearing "SLICK" at the Earth Day Festival, asking me to come to San Francisco on August 5 for a LIVE interview on Channel 76. She loves my creativity and wants to introduce me to her listeners!

August will be really busy for me because in addition to being on TV, I start the semester on August 15 at College of Marin and will be taking painting with Chester Arnold again, as well as a second semester of printmaking with Tron Bykle. He's really a Master Teacher and I want to study with him as long as I can before he retires.

A few days after the semester starts, I am off to San Francisco for the Landmark Education Forum, August 19, 20, 21 and Tuesday, 23 (graduation night). I'll probably be beat with the 3 consecutive 12 hour days and evening schedule (9 am to 10 pm), but the Leadership Skills I attain will be worth it. The last time I took a Leadership Course, my boss didn't recognize me when I came back to work after the week-end training. He sent me to the Advanced Training, and when I came back, I had the computer on my desk I was promised when I was hired a year and a half earlier, a promotion, a 10% raise and a few months later an assistant. So, the $1400 cost was worth it! I increased my salary $5000!

Well, that's my news! Enjoy the pix from St. Louis, and keep making art and growing your art career!!!
