Hats Made by Plexus Art Group, Now on Permanent Display at Zero Breast Cancer in Marin
Hats Off For Roni,
When It Rains, It Pours...
As part of the Plexus Art Group, I had the opportunity to make hats to support one of the members in our group who had a 3rd bout of breast cancer. Those hats were purchased by a donor for $10,000 and are permanently on display at Zero Breast Cancer in Marin (www.zerobreastcancer.org). After they made their way back from New York, where 2 out of the 4 hats I made, are featured in an HBO documentary on breast cancer, the Marin Arts Council in collaboration with Zero Breast Cancer created an adjunct show, to be run concurrently with the Pop Art Show in San Rafael. My hat made with recycled fabrics, held together with threadlace embroidery, is full of life and bursting with color. This cloche breathes hope and possibility for a woman who has lost her hair to this devestating disease.
